Marc Purchin is the Director of Alternative Dispute Resolution Services for the Southwest SELPA. Prior to joining the SELPA in 2006, Marc has conducted more than 2,000 mediations, mostly through contracts with the California Special Education Hearing Office, the California Department of Developmental Disabilities, the California Department of Rehabilitation as well as with numerous non-profit organizations. Marc's success rate in mediations, conflict resolution trainings and negotiation coaching has positioned Purchin Consulting as one of the premier firms in the industry.

Marc earned his Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Interpersonal Communication and Theatre from Southern Illinois University. His Master's in Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Non-Profit Management was earned at American Jewish University (formerly University of Judaism). Marc additionally attained certification as a mediator through the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office.

A faculty member at American Jewish University since 1996, Marc teaches in the school of non-profit management there. His current course offerings include Conflict Resolution and Negotiation and Organizational Development and Leadership. Periodically, Marc teaches a Collaboration course in the School of Education at Cal State Dominguez Hills. Combining his management background with his mediation experience, Marc conducts conflict resolution and leadership development training programs for a diversified client base.
